The first wine made under the Framingham label, a Riesling, was released in 1994. The vineyards that produce Framingham wine however, date back to the early 1980’s where Rex Brooke-Taylor first started planting the relatively young, stony, free draining river bed soils of the Estate just outside Renwick. The original vines are believed to be the first to be planted in Marlborough on phylloxera resistant rootstock. Today the Estate produces a range of varietals including; Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir and Viognier.
Currently, Framingham’s core range focuses on the aromatic white varietals Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling (in several styles), Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer. These wines are complimented by Pinot Noir, a small quantity of Chardonnay and a Montepulciano blend. Occasionally wines of special interest are released through the cellar door. The company currently employs twelve staff members in administration, sales, viticulture and winemaking. Visitors are welcome to taste the wines at the cellar door all year round.

Framingham
Wines Limited derives its name from the village of Framingham, located
in Southern Norfolk in the UK. This small village was the ancestral home
of the Company’s founder, Rex Brooke-Taylor.
Framingham’s
initial releases were produced using the facilities of other wineries.
In 1997, a winery and cellar door outlet was erected on the vineyard site.
Wines from Vintage 1998 were the first to be produced in this facility.
The addition of some contract grown fruit made some modest growth possible.
More recently, the winery has expanded to cope with an increase in production due to the company sourcing fruit from a number of key vineyard sites around Marlborough. Included in this expansion was a specialist red wine handling facility, primary for Pinot Noir.
